Welcome to
THE WAGNALLS MEMORIAL FOUNDATION
The Wagnalls Memorial has been a valuable arts, cultural, and educational destination in Central Ohio since 1925. The Wagnalls Memorial Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the services and ensuring the financial stability of the Wagnalls Memorial Library, Community Theater, and Scholarship Program.
If unique and unforgettable are what you are hoping to experience on your special day, then you may have found your enchanting destination in the charming town of Lithopolis.
The Wagnalls Memorial Foundation awards various scholarships to local graduating seniors and college students who meet specific requirements.
The Wagnalls offers people in the Columbus area with a unique destination to hold their most important events. We offer a variety of unique rooms varying in style and size to accommodate different needs and budgets.
On May 30, 1925, Mabel Wagnalls Jones dedicated The Wagnalls Memorial Library in honor of her parents, Adam and Anna Willis Wagnalls. Both were natives of Lithopolis, and Adam was a founder of the publishing giant, Funk & Wagnalls.
In the past, it became necessary to accept state funding to maintain the Library that is also privately owned. This necessity requires The Wagnalls Memorial Foundation to follow state rules and submit carefully planned budgets each year. Money received from the state is passed to the Foundation which, in turn, transfers all of it to the Library. Some of the money is returned to the Foundation in the form of rent for the building and as a shared expense for repairs or maintenance. In this capacity, the Library has become a means of income to help maintain the building.
The Wagnalls Memorial Foundation maintains a close relationship with the Library and is entrusted to supervise and protect the Library’s property and assets.
